Part 1: A Luxurious and Personal New Build in Johns Creek

Personality, opulence, and timeless tradition—this perfectly captures the essence of the 10,000 sq.ft. dream home we're currently designing for an inspiring couple in Johns Creek. As part one of a three-part series, I’m excited to share how we’re transforming this space from digital renderings to a luxurious haven that reflects the entrepreneurial couple’s unique vision, values, and background.

Project Scope & Challenges

Before engaging with us, the couple had worked with an architect for two years, but they were unable to fully visualize how their home would come together. They were frustrated and unsure about continuing their design journey after already investing significant time and resources.

That’s where we came in. I proposed a design concept that immediately resonated with them. By collaborating closely with them, I developed a fully integrated interior architecture plan, which included detailed floor, wall, and ceiling designs, finish selections, and a comprehensive construction set—all within a tight six-month timeline before framing even began.

With the help of 3D renderings and virtual walk-throughs, the couple was able to visualize the entire space and make timely, confident design decisions. Our proactive approach ensured that their design package was delivered to the builder before construction began, keeping the project on track and on schedule.

The Vision: Creating the Distinctive Design

Their vision was clear: they desired a home that embodied opulence, individuality, and traditional design. Hailing from Pakistan and India, I proposed the idea to incorporate elements of Mughal and Islamic architecture, blending these influences with a refined, timeless aesthetic.

Creating a design that looked sophisticated and opulent without being overly ornate took careful thought and balance. To capture their vision, we chose to use a warm color palette with gold accents throughout the home to evoke luxury and timelessness. 

We also knew that it could be a bit challenging to fuse Mughal style with the Traditional aesthetic details we are familiar with in the west. We accomplished this careful blend through the use of custom intricate mouldings, marble inlay flooring, and faux finishes that mimic gold leaf on the ceilings. 

Though these details meant going above the builder’s trim package allowance, the couple loved our designs that captured their vision and extended their investment to accomplish this style.

Our clients have been very involved throughout our 3-phase design process. Since the home is so large, we presented the designs per floor during the Design Development Phase to minimize information overload and allow our clients to make decisions confidently.

In-Progress: Grand Foyer with Custom Details

The foyer sets the stage for the grandeur that follows. As the family and their guests enter, they’re immediately greeted by the traditional yet personal design. Custom stair railings will feature the couple’s initials, while a stunning 9-foot diameter custom marble medallion will ground the space.

Our signature Sartaj Collection crown ceiling—painted in a custom gold metallic finish by local artist Kass Wilson—will truly take your breath away, complete with elegant glass chandeliers. It’s a stunning, statement-making feature that reflects both opulence and personal connection. Jaw dropping, isn’t it?

Luxury Dining Room Steeped in Personal Meaning

Flowing from the foyer is the dining room, designed for luxurious entertaining. A neutral color palette of creams and gold creates a comforting atmosphere, while a custom mural with a personal story takes center stage.

One day, our client casually mentioned she loves peacocks and asked if we could incorporate this element into her home in some way. We were excited to surprise her with a custom 3D plaster mural featuring two peacocks gracefully nestled against a serene backdrop.

This striking piece not only reflects her passion for the bird but also symbolizes prosperity and luck, becoming a beautiful conversation starter for all who gather.

Dual Kitchens with Modern, High-End Amenities

Our clients envisioned two distinct kitchens: a main kitchen that doubles as a showpiece for entertaining and a scullery kitchen dedicated to the behind-the-scenes preparation of dishes like the delicious Biryani.

The challenge with the main kitchen was creating a welcoming and elegant atmosphere within an expansive 20ft x 40ft area and 12-foot ceilings. Our solution was to design a striking, intricate ceiling design that spans the entire room, seamlessly connecting the main kitchen, breakfast nook, and family room into one cohesive and inviting area.

Oversized windows flood the space with natural light, showcasing the rich textures and finishes that define this space. The spacious island, flanked by ornately carved pillars, serves as both a functional centerpiece and a visual statement. A large quartzite countertop and backsplash with gold veining introduces a subtle touch of modernity, balancing the otherwise traditional aesthetic. Paneled appliances further maintain the seamless flow of the space.

Every detail of this kitchen combines luxury with practicality, ensuring that it meets our clients’ needs without compromising on style.

Awe-Inspiring Living Room with Striking Features

Equivalent to the grandeur of the foyer is the breathtaking formal living room. Boasting 23ft high ceilings adorned with a custom intricate hexagonal detail, this room is a space where the couple and their family will entertain in style.

The grand yet traditional fireplace and accompanying statues owned by the client are balanced by the modern floor-to-ceiling antiqued framed mirror on the opposite wall. With gold and reflective tones, this statement feature will bring a fresh sense of contemporary luxury to the room.

Reflective Study with Meaningful Details

The study will serve as a soothing respite, doubling as a sitting room or salon where our clients can unwind with an after-dinner drink or enjoy a quiet moment alone.

The space will feature custom cabinetry and moulding details, as well as an arched ceiling inspired by a Mughal palace in Pakistan. We purposefully selected soft, neutral tones for this space to showcase cherished treasures and create a comforting, reflective ambiance.

Bringing this Luxurious Home to Life

This home truly embodies the pinnacle of luxury and opulence. While it’s hard to pick a single standout feature, I’m particularly captivated by the intricate ceiling details, which will give each room its own unique character.

Believe it or not, there’s still so much more to reveal! Currently, the project is in the construction and administration phase. The foundation has been poured, and framing has begun.
